This is my new shock on the reign. I have looked at the manuel on teh fox site and the one taht came with it and they hardly tell you anything [:o] So how do you find the right pressure for your weight? and what does the propedal thingy do i haven't figgured out yet? Can you change it? As for rebound what the best setting to have it on?

you just set the sag. then it is right.

rebound so that you can just pick the wheel of the ground before the sus fully extends from compressed.

propedal wait till you are riding it.

Have you seen the reign fraem its really ahrd to see teh shock let along measure the sag [:o] any ideas on what pressure migh be about right. What are teh 1,2,3 on the top thingy?

as nick say really, rebound is go as fast as poss (turn it all the one way) then slow it down until when you ride a jump it doesn't try and kick you in the butt..

On the top of the pro pedal lever there is a 1 a 2 and a 3 what do they do? Any ideas about pressures?

they are the three propedal settings.

pressure whatever gives the correct sag.

that is the only way to do it.

[:(!] rockshox give some pressures so you know where about to put it. OK whe is the correct sag? Does it depend on the lenght of your shock?

well there is bugger all you can do to set the shock up untill the bike is built. and you can sit on it.

if giant dont give a pressure then no.

the shock maker can not as it has no idea as to what the leverage ratios are. forks are easy as there are no pivots.

Dunk, on my RP23, I have the Propedal dial set to 3, and the rebound adjust set to fast.

The recommended pressure was too much for me, so I set it to about 170 which gives me most of the travel I need.

Have you seen the PDF document relating to this shock? I will email it to you if you like.

90kg, Dunk, but I think the recommended pressure was 200 which I felt was too high.

(90 kg is about 200 lbs I think)

Yes, I think you will need a lot less. Try the Fox website. When I got my RP2 shock it came with a suspension set up CD to play on the PC - they may have something similar on their website? I weigh 85kgs and have 150lbs in my RP2 but RP23 may be quite different. I've ridden a Commencal Meta 5 with an RP23 and found the three settings didn't seem to make an enormous amount of difference to the behaviour but then I'm no expert and it may depend on the bike. On the sag front I don't like more than about an inch - you should surely be able to see the rubber marker ring, even if you need a torch,which shows you the amount of sag you are getting. If the Reign is like the Trance it is a bit hidden but you can still see it.

The shock should have a rubber O ring around it, you push it up to the cylinder, sit on the bike, then measure how far down the ring has been pushed.
If it didn't come with one just pop to any plumbing shop buy some round rubber seals/O rings and put on on before you build it.

It did come with one. Which is fine but you can't get a ruler into teh shock to measure it which is silly. As you can see from this picture is hidden in the frame [:o]

Remove the shock guard when setting it up, it will make measuring the sag alot easier.

mike what bike is your shock on? what is the travel? what is the stroke of the shock?

Only is the travel and the stroke are the same can you use the same guide.

otherwise you do as it says in the manual or on the cd SET THE SAG. that is it they is no other way to do it.

some bike makers have put waeight on the saddel and then added air to the shock to put a table together for people who need a chart. But what have they done? just the same as the manual says add air untill the sag is correct.

The travel of mine is 6" an rp23 shock and i don't know the stroke i can't find it anywhere. would be usefull though anyone know it? and what kind of pressure should i start at?

As nick says, go by sag. Bikes vary in leverage ratio and travel, so the guides don't work for all. Isn't the stroke length in your instructions or printed on the shock? Most likely be 2inches or 51mm.
