Bent middle chain ring

Whilst doing some work on the bike (see "rear hub" thread), I have also noticed the middle chain ring is slightly bent in towards the frame but only at a certain point. The rest of the ring is parallel with the other two. No idea how I could have done this, but I'm sure it's not good for the chain.
Looked on Park, which tells you how to remove the spider, but there's nothing in there to say how to separate the rings. I tried yesterday, but the hex nuts won't budge (seized?).
Do these come apart?
Any tips?

Yes they come apart. To get them back on you ideally need a little tool that stops the back one just spinning around.0
