Looking at buying some bikes around œ1000 pound mark and the majority of them have Avid juicy 3 discs. Does anyone have expereince of them and how do they rate.
Cheers

i have Juicy 3's on my Giant Reign IMO they are Great brakes!
i have done technical, steep, slow and fast decents and they have never let me down or failed me, easy to maintain and won't break the bank if something does go wrong
you won't be disapointed.

Different camps on the Juicy's... I don't like my 5's, others love them... also, on the œ1000 you should really be getting Juicy 5's... Which bikes have you looked at?

I have 3's and really like them. I do not have experience of others except the giant mph brakes!

while the 5 and the 7's are basically the same brake the lever on the 3 is totally different. and the 3 should not be classed in the same family as the 5's and 7's. they are OK brakes.

It seems all brakes have love/hate camps! Its getting harder to choose one. Except formula ;-)

sonic i am having a bit of a hate hate with a few rear formulas due to stiff/slow return on the levers. think it was just due to a shortage of lube on something.

I have 5s. When they work they're great.... but
the pistons do seem to be prone to sticking - and I've had to bleed both more than once in 12 months. Seems to be caused by leaks from the lever end. There have been a number of threads describing this problem
If I was buying new brakes I'd probably go for something different.
