I am really wondering what forks are better the Rock Shox Tora 318 or Rock Shox Recon 351?
If someone uses/used any of these forks, it would be much appreciated if you could tell me what they are like?

Thanks,

Recon 351. Same internals as a Tora 318 I believe, but is lighter.

I'd go for a Reba SL every time however.

    Lynchy,

I have the Tora 318's, as Kestrel said they are slightly heavy but a great fork once bed in. Rebound damping, lock out, compression and U-turn allowing you to adjust travel between 90-130mm and the forks accept both Disc and V-brakes. At the price your getting a great fork for the money!! [:)]

Yep, Tora 318 have Motion control damping, which apparently is really worth the extra over the normal Toras. However, on the other hand, the Tora 318s I see around generally cost about œ170. For an extra œ55, you could get a far superior and FAR lighter REBA SL from merlincycles.

I agree completely Kestrel, wish I waited and saved up for the Reba's but the 318's at 125.00 I had to [:p] The Reba is a much better fork but depends on how much money you want to spend?

Recon 351. Lighter, air cushioned and just lovely to ride on.

Thanks for all your help and it has given me a better understanding. I am still not sure about the Rock Shox Recon 351 that are about œ230. I am really sturuggling on what new bike to get is it an Orange P7 S , Giant xtc 2.5, specailized Rockhopper Comp or a Marin Palisade Trail Or Gt Expert? I was looking at Giant Xtc 2.5 as the spec is good and has a Great fram anyone got and reviews about it ?

Trust me. I have the Recon 351 and they are soooooo nice. However, if you can get Rebas for similar price then go for them

  • Reba is a nice fork very plush, I have noticed it does
flex abit more than the Tora under hard breaking though

Will this mean the fork seels will wear quicker?

Maybe its all in my mind though [:)]
