Splasher's next frame - vote now

As my shock can't be serviced (obsolete), the bearings will need replacing soon, the frame is carrying some scars and let's face it we all like new stuff, I'm thinking of buying a new frame.

Purpose will be a versatile sub 30lb bike that could be ridden in a 24 hour enduro one day and megavalanche the next (not saying it would be ideally suited to either but would span those extremes). Would run a fork with a 541mm axle to crown length.

Candidates are:

Blur LT
Heckler
Nomad
Intense 5.5 EVP
Intense 6.6
Yeti 575
Cove Hustler
Cove G spot
Orange 5
Orange Patriot

Vote now - don't worry about justifying your choice, if it's the one you'd pick that's good enough for me. You can say what colour you'd get though.

Well, it'd have to be the Hustler, as I've been amazed by mine. But I'd also be tempted with a vote for the Heckler, my mate's is superb. I have a bit of a soft spot for the Orange 5 too.

I would think you'd struggle to build the G Spot and the Patriot up into sub 30lb enduro machines.

orange 5 or the heckler.. both excellent bikes..

going by your ideals the Blur LT fits best with some of those new Marz forks 130 to 160 plus ETA and TST...

Fozzy, plan is to use existing 2006 AM1 (130-150) and then probably upgrade to 55 depending on final weights and reviews.

intense is slightly slacker angles (they work on a different C2A height) and i think the blur looks a cleaner bike with Lifetime bearings too.

get an ephiphany[:p] honestly tho they ace i looked at the same list youve got and it was by far the best! plus the colour is very different to anythin else you see if thats your thing!

I found that the intense 5.5 has a very high top tube for given size. The large 5.5 has the same wheelbase length as my large Turner, but the top tube is about 3" higher so can seriously endanger your private parts. I found it a fast, but unweildy bike.

If I was limited to those bikes on the list, and without testing them all, i'd get a Hustler.

Seagull, standover's 32" on a L frame, which would give me a 4" gonad factor of safety.

he wanted a DH bike for the alps he is intending on selling it when he returns to the UK and getting a Foes.... mad man.. he is flush atm and always wanted a nomad.. he is looking for his ideal bike and wants to try out as many as possible . (and i suspect he will return to the heckler)

Maybe I should let him try them all and buy what he thinks best. I have to say the 2007 Heckler is appealing (with an RP23). I've got a single pivot bike so that part doesn't worry me and with 150mm at the back and geometry that will take a 170 at the front I could run the AM1 at full travel. (I reckon a 150 Marzocchi's about as long as 170 from another manufacturer [;)])

What is really surprising from this post is that no-one seems to be pushing the miracle of VPP which when you consider costs an extra œ400 on your frame, you would expect to be good stuff.
