The 535 is the newer model and gets good reviews from the press. I would go with the newer model personally as it will be easier to get spares for if you intend to keep them for a while; and they are a very good brake package.

Well, œ120 for the two brakes is as much as I would like to spend. The 535 ones seem to perform pretty well for the money looking at the reviews.
Any other input appreciated!0 -
but they don't.. they are below average....
we tried larger rotors (180's) and other things never got decent power out of them.
anyway just buy them from merlin..

Cheers for the help! Am i right in thinking that i would have to bleed them myself? Ive not got a clue how to do it. The ones from chain reaction are already bled so I guess that puts the price up.0

Disc brake sets usually come fully bled & ready to fit from the manufacturer, so nothing to do with the price.

Shimano XT M765 Complete Front And Rear Disc Brake Set. The only thing with them is that is says that they cant be in stock till the end of july which isnt so good. Would the XT brakes with 160mm discs be good? I could request a price match on them at Chain Reaction. Actually they wont accept a price match as it is on sale.0

This wont suit as it is a front brake with a right hand lever. Why do they do this?0 -
XT's with 160mm rotors will be fine for xc/trail usage.

Must be european fit... The yare the other way round there, or at least in most countries!
My mate has the deores installed in his bike and is well chuffed with them, but I don't think he has tried any better ones and hence I would be tempted to trust Fozz on his opinion... All brakes come fully bled and ready to fit (Wiggle, CRC, Merlin)

I would get them but it says they wont be in stock till the end of july which isnt really ideal.
Also would this bike take the 6 bolt discs?0 -
Again, only available from late July... Get them from merlin, they seem to be on stock there, and only a couple quid more...

well the hubs are "Shimano disc hubs"
and the frame has "cut out rear dropouts with disc mount." so shouldn't be a problem.

Ok, cheers. Its just I've seen a few of the shimano discs having Centre Lock Discs.
I'll post again if I'm needing any more help and I probably will!0 -
your right here...
you will have to check when you get the bike, "MOST" new shimano hubs are Centre lock but some older ones are 6 bolt.. you will need to check physically first before ordering.

I'm getting the XT disc brakes for œ135 for the set. Pretty good! And i'm pretty sure it is 6 bolt hubs as the disc version of the cape wrath has non shimano discs (Hayes sole).0

I have the set of pre bled XT's that Fozzy posted. Swapped them for Avid Juicy 5's that came with my Stumpy. 203/180mm rotors. Can't praise them highly enough - they are fantastic!!!
