Top Welsh weekend!

Got back last night from a top weekend away, with five mates, in North Wales. We rode Llandegla on Friday afternoon, after a recommendation from a guy called Tim, who we met in a service station in Oswestry! Tim, whoever you are, cheers for the recommendation! Saturday, we got up at the dawn of crack (4am!) and rode up and down Snowdon, which was a truly mental experience (I destroyed my rear wheel rim on the way down!). Sunday we rode Penmachno, which was fantastic (and I crashed!), before coming home.

That looks awesome. Snowdon looks like a great crack - again, not jealous in the slightest. Ahem. And there's some really well composed photos in that lot!

Fozzy, that picture you say is nice isn't one of mine, it was taken by my mate Col - the guy that owns the red Hustler!

We went up the Llanberis path and down the Rangers path. Totally mad descent! I have to admit to not riding bits of it! [:I] Glad I did it but there's no way I'd do it again!

Both me and the bike are doing fine. [:)] Actually put a huge dent in my rim on Snowdon but the crash on the Penmachno trail was less damaging. I'd just hammered through a section of singletrack faster and harder than I'd ever ridden in my life, got to a really tight switchback and was laughing so hard from the singletrack that I slowed right down, tucked the front wheel under and went over the bars, in slow motion. It was more funny than painful! [:D]

there is 2 places i would have to get off down the rangers path, we went down the rocky one instead.. it's a amazing experience.

Penmachno's fantastic! I rode there a week and a bit ago for the first time. Going back on Wednesday afternoon. Loved it some good pics as well, just downloaded the vid and am glad to see you rode it the same as me!

Some great pics there. Nice one. I went out sat morning for 20 miles or so around the Beacons and it was sooooo hot - I think snowdon would have killed me!

Can't wait to do Penmachno, will do it soon!

I like the Marin trail, but think Penmac just shades it. Well for me anyway! Hopefully if the weathers not too crappy tomorrow, I should be able to post some pics myself.......

Never ridden the Marin but really enjoyed Penmachno. It's odd, as often, on other man made trails, you get a piece of singletrack and it will either go down or up but at Penmachno, more than any other man made trail I've ridden, I found that sections of singletrack went both down and up. There's a few nasty fire road climbs but over all I thought it was a great trail and it seem to me to get better and better as you progress through the loop. Definitely worth a look. I'd like to go back but with it being over a 500 mile round trip, not sure how soon I'm going to be able to do that!

I really enjoyed the bits after the first open moor traverse. Its a bit bleak up there, and its a steady climb on singletrack. Once it starts to point down tho'
Well, I thought that the piece you are on, and the next 2 bits of singletrack are some of the best I've ridden.

I'd absolutely agree with that. The piece of singletrack after the open moor traverse was great and I rode as well on that as I've ever ridden before - apart from when I crashed on one of the switchbacks near the end! [:I]

Matt, I was riding with went over the bars (Serx72) no harm done and had a soft landing. Not binned it there yet, but seeing as I've only been once....... Second trip tomorrow, and really looking forward to it!
Has anyone stopped in the pub on the way back the eagle or something? In Penmachno itself.... just wondering what the foods like? Might have a pub meal on the way home.....
