Help with tubeless wheels!!

Ok, so I'm thinking I might enter into the 21st century and convert to tubeless wheels. But I haven't got a clue about it! [:(]
What's a good, light make of tubeless tyre to use for hard XC riding?
How easy is it to set up?
Are they reliable?
What happens when you get a puncture!?!?!
Any help would be greatly appreciated! [:)]

Good man.
Have you got UST rims already or are you looking at using a kit to convert your existing rims? Doesn't make to much difference but it might be worth trying a conversion kit before forking out on new rims.
I'm currently using a Geax TNT Saguaro/Mezcal combination and have found them stunning although I'll probably swap back to my High Rollers for the winter.
I use a Stan's conversion kit on XM719 rims and found that these tyres are a bugger to get on (snapped a tyre leaver) but inflate so easily. The High Rollers I use are standard tyres (not UST) and are easy to get on but can be a little tricky to inflate at first.
I've not had any problems with air loss or burping at 29 Psi with the Geax tyres(I started at 35 Psi and have been reducing it until I find the sweet spot), 2ft drop-off to flat with my considerable bulk and no problems is a good sign.
Using Stan's sealent has resolved all puncture issues with the exception of a torn sidewall which would have wrecked an inner tube anyway. It was messy but I just put a tyre boot in and a tube and away I went. The worse case scenario is that you'll need to pop a tube in which is what you'd need to do anyway, just take tyre levers out with you if you don't normally.
Has it been worth the hassle? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I've never has so many uninterrupted miles with the exception of waiting for other riders to patch/replace their tubes!

I've got a stan's no tubes kit sat in the shed and as yet haven't used it as I've had no problems with conti protection tyres. I keep wanting to give it a try, esp as my XM719 wheels came with the valve holes drilled out ready for the conversion, but I keep riding and finding what I have good enough as it is. It really is a personal preference. Some people love tubeless, some hate it. It's worth trying a conversion kit to find out which I will eventually get round to trying myself

Thanks guys for your help!
Yes, my rims are UST ready, so no need for the conversion kit thankfully! They came with all the special valves etc.
I'll try and get round to doing that in a few weeks if I can! Sound slike a good move!

Good luck, just don't forget the sealant for pucture proofing and a little patience and all will be well.[8D]

Which is why I'm never going to follow you up on the Downs, then again with my fitness at the moment I wouldn't have a choice but to follow.

LOL!! It was hitting a flint stone on Saturday morning coming down Box Hill which took a chunk out of my tire that got me thinking that UST perhaps isn't so good to have!
