I'm riding an old scott hardtail at the momment but think it's time for a full suspension.I like to go up mountain as well as down them so it's it's an all round bike i'm after. ANY SUGGESTIONS??????????

alternitively buy a Commencal Meta 5.5.1 or 2 in large or extra large, and if you dont like it, ill buy it for you for a reasonable second hand price....0

Would 2nd the Orange 5 Pro suggestion - really good bikes and think a few people on here have them now.
You cold also look at something like the Rcoky Mountain ETS-X 50 which you should be able to get for just over the two grand mark - excellent climbers, handling is spot on and the frames are very well built. I have the ETS-X 70 and think it is brilliant.
I am sure others will say it aswell but it is usually best to try bikes out first, size/fit can vary a lot between the different manufacturers.

Just try them out, and see if your LBS will do any deals. In a month or so the sales will start, usually my LBS starts to give a 20% discount around mid July, so thats thats the time to buy. Try some demo full sussers in the mean time, most LBS will have demo bikes; this way by the time the sales arrived you will have been able to test a range of bikes. A test will also let you know if you really want a full susser, I think its the future but not all like them.
Spesh Stumpjumpers, Trek Fuel EX's and Scott Genius bikes seem to be popular and will be well discounted come sale time.

What about a Turner full sus! Ar ethey avaliable with a decent spec for 2K!?! I'm not really up on full sus prices, but I like the look of the turner bikes!

Well I've got a Commencal Meta 5.5.1 and it's fantastic if you like rocky all-mountain terrain. If you ride smooth trails then you might want something with a faster feel to it. Find a Commencal dealer who will give you a test ride!0

If you search enough for cheap bits you could, I got my frame in the Sale for œ1200, which would leave œ800 for a build-up which is possible with a few compromises. The standard price for a 5 spot is œ1500, so œ500 would be insufficient for a build-up. I have seen dealers offering complete bikes for œ2500.
Great bike though, I love it (except for the period today when it threw me head first into a tree; need new crash lid now).

if you went secondhand on Forks, it is do-able to build a a 5-spot for 2k, IF you got the frame in the sales... e.g. XT group from Merlin, Leaving œ300 for forks...

Thing is, who wants a Turner built up with compromise parts. If you really want a bike like this then you need to do it justice with the parts you buy. The 5 spot isn't the lightest 5" frame around so you would want good parts for a decent build-up weight of 28-29lb.
If I had œ2k to spend on a bike now I would get a complete bike, better value for what you spend. A nice Cannondale Prophet maybe.

Forgive my bluntness, but what are you, mad? !!
Just kidding, but to spend that much without having a clear idea of what you want (need?) or a lot of test-riding is taking quite a gamble.
I would suggest you take a good long look at the Specialized Stumpjumper, which by general consensus is a supremely competent all-rounder, and decide from that very-safe-buy reference point if you want to go for something more exotic and/or something more downhill hardcore (heavier, stronger) or more racy (lighter, not so tough, not so comfortable).
Botttom line: get some test rides!

The Orange 5 is a very good bike, more All Mountain than XC.
It leaves me grinning from ear to ear every time I ride it, it just begs you to go faster than you think is possible!
It climbs well, descends superbly & eats singletrack for breakfast [:D]

The rotor in the pic is actually a V6 (160mm), although now I do have a V7 (180mm), thanks to a forumite (can't remember who, sorry!)
