Are there huge benefits with them? and are there any other colours than gold for 9speed? Everyone I find is gold!!!!

silver for 8spd. and yes it makes removing the chain easy. and you dont need to carry a tool. all sram chains come with the correct one. and sram chains are better than shimano.

The huge benefit is just that to get the chain off you don't need any tools. Which is great for cleaning purposes!

may i ask how you actually get them off? i have one on my bike and it wont budge...

Using both hands, you need to pinch between your fingers the two plates on the powerlink where they connect to the rollers on the chain link. While holding the plates pinched between your fingers you need to push the two links towards each other, twist lightly,and the links should just unsnap.

There is a knack to it. I find, with one that has been done up a while, pinch the powerlink then squeeze it diagonally across the link and they pop undone, i think there is a very good article on undoing them on sheldon brown.
