I was up there today. Grizedale, we went to the visitors centre n forest thing. They've got a 'go ape!' thing there aswell, seems a really good weekend if you fancied camping up there. We rode the red route in the forest

I think much of that route was the one for the Penrith Merida marathon back in May. Some of those climbs are killers!
Its a lovely area though.

The High Street has to be my fvourite route. I have been tempted to turn right at Loadpot Hill and go down via The Pen, have you tried this?? and if so any good?? I just always go straight on along High Street as want a good descent after all that climbing.

Hi DSA244,

Thank you for your comments,no I have not been down the Pen yet but does look interesting! The South Lakes Group usually has about two or three rides per year around the Ullswater Area, in July we planing to do other part of High Street from the Knott down to Troutbeck, in August we planning on going up Helvellyn.

One main problems in the lakes is finding starting point to park cars which does not cost arm and leg to park all day!
