Both are cheap full sussers, which will mean a poor pedaling and heavy machine. If your budget is at the œ900 level (price of Scott) you would be far better off with a hardtail. You can get a seriously nice hardtail for œ900 that will have every component being far better than the ones on the bikes you have suggested.

If you really want a full susser, I would save some more. Good full sussers start at about œ1100, and œ1350 / œ1500 will get you a quality machine.

i ride a stinky, ive just bought my son a banshee x for the money it is a superb bike well specced, most people just slag it because its a carrera. i would highly recommend this bike, if it had a kona sticker on it everyone would buy it.you do not have to spend huge money to get a good full susser

Er yes you do, heavier, poorer specs etc etc Carrera's are fine bikes at most price points, but as I'm sure most will agree, full suss (unless on special offers) is just not worth it under œ1k.

Whatever sticker it had on, I wouldn't consider because of the points above.

The only way to get a really good full suss for under a grand is to wait for the sales (or spend œ900 on the i-Drive 5.0 XCR). I'm not slating the Banshee X, just saying that as a full suss it is heavy and poorly specced. The Fury for œ150 less is a much better bike, albeit a HT.

consider that the forks on the banshee x are where nearly half the budget of the whole bike has gone and you have your answer, good forks but doesn't leave much room for the frame and rest of the spec

banshee x weighs 39 lbs same as coiler deluxe lighter than big hit fsr, frantik 1 and norco shore two. the banshee handles anything that my stinky does. a perfect bike to start with go for it

  • But not if he wants to ride XC! Its incredibly heavy for general trails and XC riding. For light DH, Freeride and short rides its a great buy, but not for anything else! People don't slate it because its a Carrera, merely point out that its extremely heavy and unsuitable for most peoples riding, especially beginners. A hardtail of the same price may be 12-13 lbs lighter, and handle much better on the trails.
