Best commute home from work?
So who's got the best (off-road)commute home from work? Mine's not too bad though unfortunately there's a fair bit of road to get from Central Bradford to the canal at Shipley (I can't wait for the new canal link from central Bradford to Shipley!) but from there there's a myriad of choices such as:
1) Up Shipley tramway, then up Shipley Glen, then wiggle about up to **** Hudson's, then across Ilkley Moor via the Twelve Apostles and Cow & Calf (quick stop for a pint of Landlord) then down to Ilkley and home. Some quite technical sections if you so choose. 15 or so miles. Sort of okay as Bradford doesn't mind MTBers on most of Ilkley Moor. Don't stray off-line though or you'll be shot.
2) Up the canal to beyond Bingley then up and over the moor by the old Keighley Gate track. Not much in the way of technical stuff but the Keighley Gate track is getting better as it's surface gets washed away! Entirely legal.
3) Down the canal to the waterworks and wiggle through and up the woods to Guiseley. More wiggling and not entirely legal riding through Menston, Burley to get home. The odd bit of technical interest but mainly very civilised. Watch out for aggressive landowners though who are far from civilised! What is wrong with some people I ask - do they have a large object stuck up their backsides?

Mines is rubbish - 9 miles all road[:(]
If I have some spare time I can take an extra 4 mile route but it is cycle route sp still tarmac[:(][:(]
One guy I work with cycles over the Pentalnds to work 2 or 3 times a week, that is a REAL cycle to work rather than my rubbish road cycle trying to avoid cars, buses and stupid pedestrians

Why did'nt it blank out Bradford? soz only joking...Mines fairly poor too all on road but devilishly hilly from Emley Moor( where some people get their tv pics from) to Morley. Round trip of 32miles..
Enjoy ....

About 6 miles each way, and I guess at a 50/50 split for road and off road. Only the Trans Pennine trail and the Bridgewater canl bank, but at this time of year its lovely coming in to work. All the ducks, moorhens etc make it an enjoyable ride in.
