Hi!! Having just had an op on my ankle, i'm laid up and off the bike for a few weeks, giving me plenty of time to plan a few "specials". Anyway, i'm trying to sort out and English coast to coast route, but all i can find are roadie routes from st.bees to robin hoods bay. Does anyone know of any off road routes please?

Sustrans do a route that's about 50/50 on/off road. I did it in '05, link in sig.

Tim Wood*****'s coast to coast from Whitehaven to Robin Hoods bay is the best if you like hard off roading. isbn 1-85981-005-5 gives you complete maps, route plans and some accommendation. If you cant get the book e mail me will lend it to you.

Quite a few of bookshops can order the Coast-to-Coast ride pack or you can get it direct, on the web, at http//www.mbruk.co.uk. MBRUK will be happy to field any questions guide pack purchasers have about the route. Hope this helps. Happy planning.
PS: MBRUK do guide packs for other long-distance MTB tours around the UK.

Not sure whether you have a GPS devise. There is a file on Active Fuel for the C2C and its a free GPS download.

Does anyone know whether this GPS file is for the MBRUK Coast to Coast? It used to be published in the Wheelright's guide series and is based around Wainright's walk.

I'm pretty sure there's a decent article covering said ride in SingleTrack mag an issue or 2 ago. I think I still have it if your interested mate.

That'd be great.
GPS files for established, long-distance routes are a real bonus. This one's the best known and most popular, so it'd be good to make the file more available to kitted-up riders.
