I'm at hers, cooking a curry for her and her sisters tonight while they watch big brother. Have already made chocolate covered strawberries and they also have onion bhajis and naan breads sat here. And what am I doing while they stuff their faces? Riding my bike!!! Not sure who's getting the best of this deal, but I have a feeling it ain't me! [:)]

Yup, you can't beat home made ones from scratch, the smell as you add the spices to the fried onions & garlic that are frying away is incredible.

My fave(s) are Beef Madras done in a slow cooker for about 8 hours & Delhi Chicken Curry, served with Mango rice [8D]

Coincidentally, I'm planning a bit of a curry evening soon with a couple of neighbours. We've got a serious crop of spuds, onions and spinach in the allotment, so there's a decent veggie curry right off, but I also only just got my latest delivery of organic Hereford beef from my friendly local farmer, so I've got loads of stewing beef ready and waiting. I just cannot wait....

Yes, in more ways than one, Frankie.

A curry cooked long and slow over a really gentle heat still, as you say, benefits from being switched off, allowed to cool for a day, then reheated; seems to allow the flavour to permeate so much more completely.

However, last night's left-over curry for breakfast the next day is also IMHO one of life's great pleasures, even better, I believe, than the same treatment of a pizza.

I tend to find the pizzas that taste like that the next day, Guilliano, are the ones that tasted pretty much as bad the night before. And let's face it, there are plenty like that.

At last. A thread about curry and pizza!
Two of my favourite foods. Though not at the same time, obviously.
I made a traditional Burmese chicken & coconut curry yesterday. With all the trimmings. Recipe passed down from my mum.
Delicious IMHO. Though let down by the fact that I am now a veg. So couldn't have a taste

Curry was lush, girls loved it, it all went, 1 of my sisters had seconds!! But, the strawberries dipped in chocolate were the best thing I have ever tasted, I want all of my choclocate served this way in future

We have a killer curry cookbook , it's called 'an indian houswives recipe book' by laxmi khurana , every single one we've made has been fantastic,it says that they are all family recipes handed down,it's looking a bit moth eared now(15 years old) but it will NEVER be thrown out.
takeaways pale into insignificance compared to the meals made out of this little gem.

If we go out for curry we go to Bradford to the sort of places the asian locals go to , figures if they're in there then it must be ok.

Yea I agree, anything made from scratch tastes far better than anything from a jar/takeaway. Guilliano is just a really good cook, he has the patience for these things.
