Hey I'm new here and was wondering whether you could give me a heads up on which mountain bike I should buy. Its gotta be a hardtail with front and rear discs and shock (pref with 100mm travel) lockout optional.
I'm in the UK at the moment so the above amount I mentioned would be in sterling. Hmmm what else to say? Oh yeah it has to be really really light!
Any ideas anyone? Well, thanks in advance!

Bike weights are usually hard to find on websites, best bet is to ask owners of the bikes how much they weigh!

Looking at 28-33lbs for most hardtails of this price. Discs add weight, so V braked bikes are often lighter.

Thanks guys! I think Ive found the perfect bike for me!
The GT Avalanche 1.0 - It seems like a tough all-rounder
if a bit heavy at just over 13kilos, but im sure ill manage!
Ill let you know how things turn out!

Check out the Decathlon rockrider 8.2 for œ700 which is excellently specced and very light. If weight is the real issue, check out edinburghbikes who have a hardtail for about œ900 which weighs in at about 23 lbs.
