Spesh Enduro

I had a go on a Spesh Enduro Pro today. Lovely bike, the Magura Marta brakes were very sharp. Rear end felt as nice as my Turner. Didn't like the forks though, felt notchy. I'm not a fan of Specialized bikes but if they sort out the fork out I would certainly consider one (would also like to see how they do in gloop, mud clearance is bad). How attitudes change.

I think it's the new '07 one with Specialized's own DC forks, which has minimal tyre clearance to say the least, it looks like 5mm max in the pics I've seen!

on the dual crown forks theres not much clearance, true.

i think mud tyres (like trailrakers) are generally a lot narrower, to cut through mud, rather than ride over it. so i assume the clearance issue isn't such a big problem.

I've followed the MTBR forum on the Enduro SL - not one mention of mud issues. Plenty of problems with the forks though, first generation teething problems I suppose. Sounds like the fork you yried should be warrantied. I'd love to have a go on one.

I've also just read that the BETD linkage may work on 07 Stumpies, which would increase my travel to 150mm - Yay!

There was 5mm max clearance, you couldn't get a finger between the tyre and the bridge on the fork. The tyres were huge though, and like most spesh tyres looked like they would be rubbish in UK conditions.

As with most mud its not the sloppy stuff thats a problem, its when the clay style mud that we get in certain areas of the country mixes with the foliage in the Autumn to make that mud with the consistency of blu tack; I think that the DC fork will clog very quickly then. Hopefully they'll go the same way as Whyte and offer a version with either the Rock Shox Lyrik or Fox 36.

maybe not for england's mud, but im sure the aim was for dryer riding? im sure it's fine for all but the worst of mud

If you run the best mud tryes - they don't pick up as much mud anyway.
