I`ve a 06 fire mountain and was wondering if the frame is the basis for upgrading
I know its fairly heavy but is it worth spending on new uprated bits eg wheels , brakes , forks etc
or do i bite the bullit and splash out on new bike
any ideas?

I'm by no means an expert, But if a œ400 mtb to be considered a throw away bike after a year, maybe I should look for new hobby.0

A lot of the money in the Fire Mountain goes into the frame because for the money it is underspecced. Obviously it depends on how much you are going to spend on upgrades but the performance Kona frames remain fantastic objects for improvement.0

Thanks for the replies
I think new forks seem as good a place to start upgrading as and when SWMBO allows[;)]
Was thinking about RockShock reba or the like will a minimum of 85mm travel wreck the feel of the bike as originally its 75mm of suntour fork.0 -
Reba's would be good, going from 75mm to 85mm shouldn't cause any issues, I wouldn't go over 85 though, as it could really alter the handling & could possibly cause damage to the frame.
