The epic and the stumpy are vastly different bikes, with the epic riding more like a hardtail untill the suspension kicks in. Both the Epic and the King are more XC race bikes, whereas the Stumpy and the Fuel are more of a trail/all day riding bike.

Have you looked at the Commencal Meta 5? they seem to get glowing reviews from everyone who owns one.

    Cheers

Not sure what to go for at the moment have a test ride on a epic and stumpy at the weekend, I do mostly flatish trial runs at the moment and go to the lakes about every 6 weeks to do a couple of rides, did the northface on Friday, and it knacked me out on the saracen so it needs to go.

Go for either 4" or 5" travel if you are coming from a hardtail - avoid 6".

I did the North Face on my hardtail Orange P7 and had a major prang on a rocky section and very bloody knees whereas on my new Commencal Meta 5.5.1 it was a doddle and really it was a matter of how fast you could go without missing a bend. I would recommend the Commencal if you are doing rougher more technical routes (reds, blacks, Lakes, DAles, Scotland, etc) however if you want racing speed go for something else.
