Does anybody have any experience of GPS on this phone? My mate and i were considering going halves on a full on GPS after a rather disorientating ride on the north yorkshire moors using poor directions from a website. But, after seeing the price tag we have shyed away and we are now considering blagging a free upgrade onto this phone. Does it do the job or does it fall short?
We basically want to be able to download routes into the system, and then for it to be able to keep us on course (or tell us how far off it we are) so we dont have to keep stopping or looking for stupid benches or markers that have often either been removed or covered in undergrowth.
Just looking for some freedback really so hope someone can help
Cheers

yer my mom has this phone.
it's not a good phone for Bike GPS. you would be better with a cheap old Orange SPV and mapping software. contact Des of this forum he has such a system.

Cheers guys. Is this viewranger software tried and tested then? It certainly looks a good option if it works well.
I dont need something with bells and whistles really, just something that will keep me on track without stopping every 5 yards to look at a map or description0 -
surely a garmin 305 or 205 would be a good option too?

I use viewranger have the peak district version
bargin for œ25, works perfect you can look at you
location in 2d or 3d in seconds, you also import
routes that you have plotted on memory map etc
I had a nokia N73 so just bought a œ25 bluetooth
gps, so it was a cheap entry in to satnav, without
having to buy a Garmin etc, even better on a N95 cause
you have it all in one

Afraid not. You can only use it with phones/organisers running Windows. Nokia uses Symbian.

Dsldude cheers for the info mate, i think we will be giving it a shot in the very near future.
Fozzy - yeah the Garmins were first choice but with the price and the fact that moorland epics etc arent really that common for us we were struggling to justify spending a œ150 -250 quid on a GPS unit.
My riding buddy can apparently get the N95 on a free upgrade, so we would only have to buy the software and map, a bit cheaper this way as long as the N95 does the job everyones a winner.
Cheers for the help fellas.0 -
tell 02 you want your pac code to change networks and they'll give you a free upgrade to an n95 600 min a month and 1200 texts (well they were giving them away!)
the batteries are poor though and you may use the whole charge in one day if remote, i got one of these,
