Hey All,

I've done a bit more research since my last post and have now got 3 bikes which I would like your opinions. I'm going to try to ride all 3 this weekend if I can.

1) Specialized RockHopper Disc 2007 - http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=22171
2) Charge Duster Mid 2007 - http://www.ride-bikes.com/products.php? ... b91s2p1555
3) GT Avalanche Expert 2007 - http://www.gtbicycles.com/mountain/cata ... brand=moun

Apologies if posting links is disallowed but I didn't see any rules.

They're all around the same price, but I don't know enough about specs to know which components are good and bad.

My riding is 75% offroad trails, 25% on road.

Cheers.

Russ

Personally I'd go for the Charge Duster due to the flexy steel frame, but the final decision would be down to how they feel to ride. Have you tested them?

    Hi, Russ

Posting links is fine, but put double quotes (") round your URLs otherwise it's hit and miss whether the post will work correctly or not; in this case not.

All three are great bikes, and you won't go far wrong with any of them. Don't worry too much about spec list, since all three have decent frames and forks, but concentrate more on what feels right for you. Personally speaking, I'd go for the Duster, largely for pimp value (not too many on the trails yet), but that's irrelevant if it doesn't fit you as well as one of the others.

  • Check out the Charge Bikes Podcasts then decide if you want a Specialised or GT (yawn) [;)]

As the other guys have said, try before you buy, they're all good bikes but the Charge wins in the style category.

  • Great thanks guys, I was moving towards the charge as I was in my local shop with a friend recently (who was looking for a new jump bike) and the guy in the shop couldn't find a bad thing to say about the charge blender mid. Which led me to the duster.

I'll see if I can ride them this weekend and I'll let you know what I decide!

    Thanks again.
