Recons?
Hi, i am currently looking at some 351 solo air Recons (with poploc) on fleabay, are these any good forks and are they adjustable (internally) to 130mm? (i need extra travel for when i will get a new frame), they are the 2007 model, and how much do you guys reckon they are worth?

Its the top end Recon, a very good fork and original factory versions use the All Travel spacer system so can be adjusted internally to 130mm. Some OE ones however are fixed travel and use shorter stanchions.

my 351s are set at 100mm travel and as far as I know can't be adjusted internally. The u-turn version can be adjusted between 85mm and 130 mm. Either way they are very good forks. If they are new with the steerer uncut on fleabay I'd go up to œ200. They are œ250 in my LBS

it says on the ebay listing internally ajustable, but just wanted to check first. do you reckon they would stand up to AM duties, particularly at full travel?

i dont like calling it XC because i believe it is more than that, but, generally, its the odd drop, with the odd jump, and quite hard downs... Only really jumps built in the course though and places like Trail Centres. e.g. Grizedale. although am going to mabie in the next month, and will probably be at GT aswell

It should do yes, but its not the toughest fork out there. You'll have to be smooth!

100mm should be fine for that. I have never struggled with my recon 351s on any terrain. The fact you can adjust the air pressure will help compensate for the lack of extra travel. They are very plush, stiff and lovely to ride with and well worth the money

yeah, but i am pretty sure these are the ones that have Internal Travel adjust... so when i get a new frame in the future, i would be able to ajust them...

I'd take Sonic's word over mine on this, but worth checking with fisher outdoor (RS dealers in the UK) to be 100% certain. I don't know for certain if they can be adjusted internally

are your the aftermarket ones, if so, then they are ajustable to 80mm / 130mm... http://www.sram.com/en/rockshox/crossco ... econ/#tab1

Mine are after market, but have never yet needed more than 80% of the travel, including doing jumps (albeit nothing more than 18 inches high at speed) and my frame is only waranteed to 100mm. If SRAM say they are adjustable then they are well worth the investment, but as i said œ200 would be my limit online due to warantee cover. I'd rather pay more to be able to take them back to my LBS IMHO

yeah, i dont really want to go above œ160 ish so we will se how the auction turns out...
by the way, are you still looking for a new frame? i saw you were looking at the I drive XC 4, but if you are a medium frame, then if you want extra travel, there is a I drive 5 frame at winstanleys for œ500, would be perfect with a 130mm fork [;)]

Can't afford the new frame at the mo. Just bought new bars, grips and XT shifters + front and rear mechs. Will be wanting one in the future but would be a large GT

Tora 318 Air also worth a gander. Slightly heavier, but tough steel stanchions. Uses same internals as recons and is cheaper.

already got them... Here, Slightly more than i wanted to pay (about œ10), but still, i am happy... The auction says they can be internally ajusted, but if they cant, then i shall just send them back... now all i need is a shock pump...

If he's taken them off a bike, and is OE, you may be in trouble. No way of knowing until you crack them open.

Might be stamped into the crown or steerer. Inside will eb the all travel spacers. Have a look at the RS site for info on how to adjust the travel.
