i found the kikapu and deluxe version quite heavy, not sure about the banshee unfortunately. the weight stopped me buying the deluxe. checking out Gt-idrive XCR 5 now, œ899 bit over your budget (and mine) lol0

They are very different bikes! One is an XC bike, the other a big hit freeride bike! What sort of riding will you be doing? And you need to test them. The Kikapu has an awful fork.

its for my teenage son he does a lot of downhill and a little bit of jumping.ive heard the banshee x is really heavy but ive been to halfords and it does not seem that bad, his mate has a specilized p2 cromo thay seems just as heavy to me.thanks for your opinions so far

P2 cromo is not light, but it will be more agile due to it been a jump bike, rather than big hitting all mountain bike. The Banshee X is heavy, 37lbs, while a hardtail of the same money may be 10 lbs less. Also the rear sus is very squishy. It is a good bike for a bit of DH, but not to pedal about much.
