Should I bother with insurance?

Hi guys, just getting back into mountain biking, and picked up a cheap saracen mantra 3, ideal for getting fitter! My question is should I bother with insurance? I live in a small village, crime rate is pretty low and I'll be riding in and around my village and up in the hills.

I'd also like some advice on which would be the best lock to purchase e.g d-lock, cable lock etc. I've got around œ20 - œ30 to play with.

Thanks in advance.

    Famous last words......

I'd say for the few quid its likely to cost then its worthwhile, you wouldn't miss it and its there if you need it.

I use this lock, easy to carry & 6ft so it covers the whole bike

If the bike costs less than œ500 then it will be covered on most household policies. The big question is: if it gets nicked, can you afford to replace it?
