I have a plan...and a question regarding rings

I have ordered the girlfriend the pink bike she wants today and as a result I was able to bag a new XT crank for my Marin for œ50[:D]

So here comes the plan. I know XT rings are naff, my mates Gary fisher has XT and his chainset looks like a shark however I have sitting in my shed a raceface big ring left over from when I fitted a bash guard to my reign so the plan is to replace the XT ring big with the R/R one I already have and then take of the 32tooth middle ring of the Reign and fit it to the hardtail and invest in a new 34tooth middle ring for the reign. I am not fussed about the granny ring on the Marin as it rarely gets used where as on the reign it gets used a lot so they will get left as they are. The 2 left over XT rings will then get donated to my m8s bike.

Does this seem like a good plan? Is it worth the hassle upgrading from 32 middle ring to 34 teeth middle ring on the reign, would I notice the difference? I know 36 would make more difference but I only have a 34 bash guard.

Ride untill they die then change them. ohg and do you recon my frame will come with a headset and why?

Better idea is to put middleburn ones HCSS or some other non-cheese rings, flog the xt rings on ebay, some muppet will buy them because they are xt. Then save yourself a chain and possibly cassette

XT rings have a home to go to which is why I planning on changing them.

Dunk stop worrying the reign does comes with a headset...and some carbon spacers...and a carbon stem cap thingy.
