Giro E2 or Xen
I am going to replace my giro Animas bike helmet as it has seen better days. I cant decide between the Giro E2 or the Xen, I was going to get the Xen for the extra protection but have been told it can be quite warm especially on the climbs by a couple of people who own one.
Has anyone used an E2 and what sort of feedback do you have on it, also feedback on the Xen would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

haven't ever tried the E2 but i love my xen, you feel inside it, rather than a sensation of it being sat perched on your bonce..
With a big crash under my belt last saturday, (landed on my head; the xen did a fab job), i had to replace it. I did waver a little and consider the hex (one criticism is the xen is quite wide on me, but came back to the xen which arrived this morning and i'm well pleased [:)]
Haven't ever been troubled with the heat issue to be honest..

Not tried the Xen but I used an E2 before the Animas that I have now. Have to say, I prefer the Animas to the E2. The Xen looks good, as it offers a bit more coverage but extra coverage does mean it'll be warmer. I sweat enough anyway, don't think I need any more help making my head warmer!

Just try them on in an LBS, Dave and see which suits. I tried an E2 and didnt like the feel of it. It was kind of too high and the vents were just too big to seem proper protecion.
I much preferred the cheaper Havoc which is a good compromise.

Dave, you know I have the Xen. Great helmet, but if I was doing it again I'd probably go for the E2. I just find the Xen too warm; although I do run hot anyway.

Very good, my last two bike helmets have been Animas but I just feel like a change so am going to go for the E2 I think.

What about a Fox Flux ? .. I had an E2 for the last 2 years and the Fox is awesome compared to it ?0

I tried on both and found the E2 uncomfortable and the Xen the total opposite, so got the Xen. Had it for about a year and well impressed. As super says though you'll only know when you try them on - got to be done at that price !!0

I am hoping to get along to Edi bikes tomorrow to try them on - that will probably help decide for me.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback so far.

I tried both the Xen & E2 when shopping for my current Helmet!
Xen didnt fit my head nice at all, but E2 Felt great & I Went for that!
Its all about your heads shape really!0 -
A bonus with the Xen is that Giro will do 30% off the cost for a crash replacement helmet, so once you have laid out the initial price-tag, a replacement isn't so expensive.
Don't know if this works for the rest of the range?
I read this in a bike mag review recently and it persuaded me to choose the Xen. Although there is no mention of this offer when you buy the lid???

Giro do it for the full range i think, I have had my Animas replaced before and it was a pretty quick turnaround
