budget tyres - slicks or semis

Mates got a hardtail he's using 80% on the road. Its still got the original knoblies on (26x1.95)

Told him he ought to change to what it says on the thread title.

Anyone spotted any bargains for a pair of tyres out there?

Schwalbe City Slickers pair with tubes from Wiggle for about œ24 IIRC. 1.5" slicks though, so no use offroad.

For road work I would go for a pure slick. The city jet / Ultra Gator are both good. However, you wont get very far off-road with a slick tyre. He'll need to switch back to the knobblies for off-road.

Guess the guys only really going to use them on the road. He only got a bike to follow doctors advice. Both his parents died due to heart problems by the time they were 50. He's in his late 40s and got told he'd got high blood pressure etc....
