Frame Creak.......WTF?

Got my bike back from a service at the lbs yesterday,went on a little jaunt with wifey and kept hearing this annoyning creaking on my bike. Now i thought it was the frame but the wife reckoned it could be coming from the bottom bracket area as it got more frequent when i pedalled than when free wheeling.

Has anyone had or got a similar problem that could give me some advice.(I think it was creaking before it went for a service).

An annoying creak on my bike turned out to be the saddle rail creaking, it actually sheared at the clamp.

Seat and seatpost are most common, try using some grease on them. Some BBs such as the FSA ISIS unit do squeek; but there will be play in it if its on its way out. Pedals can creak as well, i've even had the jockey wheels creaking.

i've only had the bike since march but will try the seatpost and seat hopefully it is that.

Creak can come from pretty much anything, bottom bracket, seat / seat post and headset or even good old spds. To find out which one is the one that is doing the creaking. Obviously, if it is the seat post or saddle it will show up when sat on ya butt pedalling. If it is the headset it will creak when you turn the handlebars more than when it is just goin' straight abead. SPD's give a creak pretty much whenever you pedal, as does the bottom bracket. Generally speaking the bottom bracket gives a knocking sound. If you have the right tools the bottom bracket is dead easy to fix.

My bike creaks and i don't seem to be anything i cna find so i just don't worry about it and hope its ok [:D] Though i maybe cause my drivechain is worn out[?]

I've had the same noise a couple of times. The first was the cr@p Halfords seatpost bending under me ([:0][:0]!!) and the other was where my handbars were being held by the stem. It worked a little loose and then the mud and muck got in. Every time I pulled, turned or put any weight on the bars it squeaked like a piglet on helium.

Really, bl00dy annoying when you are already struggling up a climb!

think i solved it.. sat on saddle there was the creak, tokk off post and saddle no creak,greased seat post and inside the seat tube put it back on bike and upto now no creak (touch wood)
