Still a bit sloppy in places though which makes life interesting, was there for about 1 1/2 hours in the morning, not to many dogs around and only saw 3 other cyclists.

There's a fair bit of decent riding around but I see more roadies when travelling to a trail that are friendlier than the MTB'ers I see on the trail. 'Tis a strange town.

Well, I don't know about the area around Horsham, but there's plenty of us just up the road around Guildford/Dorking who get out and about on Pitch/Holmbury/Leith Hills. It may be a bit difficult for you if you're like Marky Mark and don't drive, but you're certainly welcome if you can make it. Pace is definitely at the sociable end of the scale, and a cuppa/cake stop at Peaslake Stores is pretty much obligatory [:)].

Hi Major, already pointed mushy in your general direction if he fancies going a little bit further afield, besides you all seem rather friendly.

Wife keeps on threatening to go to Guildford shopping for maternity wear (persoanlly didn't think I'd put on that much weight but hey) so I may be in your area soon.

I'll take a day off next week, probably Friday and suss out the St Leonards Forest to Tilgate route or something if you're up for it. I'll mail you my work number and mobile and we'll take if from there although if you're in town during the day I'm normally not far from a pub.

  • I had a look at the Muddy Arse club and was inspired to go up tp Horsham on Friday - St Leonards Forest was great - loads of twisty singletrack through the woods - great stuff - splashed across some streams - I did a 15 mile loop in the end - I didn't make it to Tilgate. It was a real blast to try out a totally new area.

I'd be certainly up for a ride - I can manage weekdays (self employed) - though I'm limited to trains for transport.

Sounds good to me, taken next Friday off (15th June) so I'm up for it although I'm only just starting to explore the forest myself so it could be interesting, Horsham station would be as good a place as any to start from, I'm easy on the times.

Futon's coming from Brighton fella and I believe there's some stupid rule about taking bikes on trains during peak hours.

If you fancy a spin this weekend let me know.

    BTW where you moving from/to?

Sounds like a good plan, I'm up for it. Got a few day's off the end of the week. Like mushyj I also tend to ride alone because I work weird hours. I will be driving down from Horley, any chance I can meet you guy's at the St. Leonard's forest car park?

Fine by me and I don't think anyone else will object, it's not far from the station so it'll be around 11.15 at Roosthole.

I've really got to sort out an interesting route to Tilgate unless we're just going to muck about in the woods.

    Anyone else coming?

    So far it's:

    YGM Muddo.

    All,

Just had a thought, can you make sure you have a card or something stashed in your hydro pack or on your person that details any important medical information, emergency contact details, etc. Just in case, heaven forbid, that something happens. It just makes sense as we don't know anything about each other; I'm not talking about discussing private matters just to make sure that there are details accessible if they're required.

Cheery guy aren't I. Just one of those sensible things I occasionally think of.

No worries, will bring my compact. It's waterproof too, might be useful this Friday :-)

Mark, good idea, I always have a card with all the relevant info in my pack, my mum made me carry it ;-)

Might have another one coming along for St Leonards tomorrow if he can blag it.

As it's supposed to rain and the ground is still rather sticky/sloppy in places I'll be trying out some new tyres tomorrow which better be worth it as they were a bugger to get on last night.

Muddo, a waterproof camera...you wouldn't happen to be another practioner of neutral buoyancy would you?

Not really, taunting gravity is more my thing... It's not even my own camera, borrowed it for a upcoming work trip.
  • Marky - I'll meet you on the south bound side of the station, that's the side without the ticket office.

I'm aiming to be there at 10.50 - if the connections go well!!

Text me if things don't run smoothly so that I can let Muddo know and get a pint in at the Bedford.

Can you get through that side if there's not a guard there?

You won't be able to miss me as I'll be the fat bloke with a bike who hasn't shaved all week.

    See you guys tomorrow[:D]

  • Marky - Muddo - great ride today :-) Nice to meet you guys. We'll have to do it again. Maybe you can come down to Brighton - I'll show you my local trails.

Still smiling and that's not just the Magners that's doing that. We may have to get some other people along though otherwise we're just adding to the "Spesh are as common as muck" myth[;)]

Fantastic route back to the station too! Muddo, you'll have to come by train next time as it's superb.

Futon, will deffo take you up for the away leg and thanks for leading the ride, spot on mate![8D]

Muddo, felt a bit mean about the rain jibe as you headed back to the car park, it's just my way and I didn't mean to offend although I'm sure you took it in the manner it was intended, pure jealousy[}:)] Enjoy the Maldives mate[:D]

I know what I'm doing on Fathers Day, gonna get up early and go for a blast before I do the party duties.
