I rode there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I tell you something for nothing I nearly blew my beans all over the place when I had finished. This is a quality place to ride. I have yet to do the Wall. Has anyone else done it here?

40 mins distance for me. Penhydd was my first trail which I've done about 10 times (not been riding long) and I've done the wall twice. When you come here again go another 15 mins up the road to Glyncorrwg for Whytes and Skyline, you won't be dissapointed.

The Wall is a bit of a climb (for majorly unfit me!) but the descent is worth everything.

We went this weekend and the trails were in a great state. Managed the Wall from trail start (where the last descent finishes) to trail end in 1hr 7mins - car park to car park in 1hr 35mins. Get in! That's a full 24 minutes quicker than last time. Also managed Penhydd in 1hr 45mins although our excuse for the slowness there was having caned The Wall in the morning. [:P] Twas a properly good ride! Beaming ear to ear after Penhydd - that has to be the best singletrack in South Wales. [:D]

Yeah - that rubbish pile of ****e.[:(!]

It's not that bad really just a bit on the weighty side. Should be the new Cove Handjob soon (but not soon enough goddammit! [:P]) which will be substantially lighter with the new kit on it as well [:D]

You're a lucky man, it being your local and all. I just wish I had a car so I could go more often. I'm completely reliant on mates unfortunately!

*** Hmmm... Must get myself off to Afan again soon, it is indeed awesome ***

  • Agreed.

Penhydd and the wall are good, but Whites level wins for big grins.

  • If you're pining for Afan, check out the Big Ride podcasts - there's some nice helmet cam footage on them, and on the latest cast, a link to a 30 minute behind the scenes special about filming a mountain bike movie on the Afan trails. :D
