Which new bike

I have just had my previous bike stolen so I am in the market for a new bike. My previous bike was a 2006 Marin Wolfridge (which I had only had for 7 months). I enjoyed the bike but thought I should consider other options, espcially as the 2007 model now costs œ2K.
I have got it down to 2 choices :-
1. A 2007 wolfridge.
2. Specialized Stuntjumper Elite.
I do mainly Xc riding around yorkshire dales & peak district. Going to Glentress for 1st time in a couple of weeks & then Chamonix at the end of June.
Any opinions greatly appreciate

oops, spelling has never been my strong point.
Fozzy - have you owned a SJ?

no.
BUT going on every review and everything i know about the Marin Wolf ridge you will be FAR FAR happier with the Specialized, the front end is far more planted, the frame (IMO) is nicer to look at, the spesh do have a tendency to wear out the shock bushes but the marin's have a thing about killing the bearings and them squeaking after a few hundred miles.
the spesh is a more rideable bike from all accounts the Marin WR has excellent rear end but the front is aweful, light on climbs, washes out on the downs. none of these "issues" can be pointed at the Spesh...

i would agree on the lightness of the front end.
wondered if the sj would take as much of a battering as the wr given that wr is "all mountain" compared to sj which is xc

Hamish on this forum has a SJ.(along with others)
He takes it round ALL the forests trail centres in Scotland, he is a well built chap and he has no issue with the SJ.. the SJ will be fine doing the stuff you do else i wouldn't say get the SJ [;)]

SJ is AM too... Spesh have the Epic as their XC bike... I guess they might market it as a XC/AM bike, but just so they can sell the Enduro as a proper AM bike... Crafty people, them marketing trolls [;)]

You'll have a blast on a Stumpy FSR - also - prices are falling -you can get an Expert for the price of an elite.
