XC Cycling Maps - What are the best?

Having bought several OS maps at 25:000 scale, I'm still finding it hard to distinguish between bridleways and footpaths on the maps - especially when the contours close in and makes it even more difficult.
Is there a specific OS or other cycling map that either emphasises the bridleways, or removes the footpaths?
I know there are more bike-specific maps, but only for specific / popular routes etc. I live no-where near any of them[:(]

Rough Guide. Shows routes around local areas, and highlights them with step by step guide telling you where to go. A good LBS should have one for your area.

I wouldn't worry to much about not riding on footpaths, I spent a good deal of time on the ramblers forums asking about riding on footpaths and 99% of them agreed that if your courtious and respectful they have no problems with it.
I know your legally not supposed to but most of the bridleways round here are a complete mudbath.

They do them Tic.... I bought one for the south east with over 50 route maps. Worth asking at an LBS

Well, it's more that around me, lots of FP's have stiles at every bl**dy field boundary. Nothing better to spoil a perfectly good ride. At least with BW's, they're largely free-flowing routes.
I can't agree with you more about the current mud-carnage that are my usual routes at the moment. If it carries on, I'll end up going to Peak District next weekend having done 2 miles only on clipless...

I am sooo thick. I was searching the Rough Guide site. Didn't notice the "ride" bit in the URL. Derrr.
Thanks, they look great. Just ordered the South East one.

Agree with Guilliano on the Rough Ride Guide. Superb. I've had mine for 9 months now.
The routes are excellent, but they are also a good starting point for making up your own.

Lots of exploring and geting lost to be done by veering off the highlighted routes
