Best Brakes?

What are the best Hydrallic Disk brakes that you can buy?
Also, what are the best Shimano Disk brakes you can get?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

well the best shimona ones should be the xtr as they are the top of teh range. But if i was you i would get some xt's they are really good brakes for the money and have alot of power.

Very pleased with my XT brakes.You can get them for œ130ish including rotors now if you shop around as the new 2007 versions are about to be released.

Hope M4's are pritty good i think. But formula have gotta be one of the best. Though avid ultimate are very light.

Unless you work out what you want from a brake, there's no such a thing as the best brake.

What do you weigh, what kind of bike is it for, and where will you ride? Without this information, you could get legitimate recommendations from Avid codes to Liam Killeens Maguras with Aluminium rotors as the best brake.

definitely Hayes HFX-9 with carbon levers. No doubt about it. Absolute perfection. Like hens' teeth though godd luck finding some!!!

Currently any of the Shimano range of brakes are my choice, best lever feel, power and value for money as far as I'm concerned. Saints on the Patriot, Deores on the XC bike and the next one will probably have XTs on it.

I find xt's are a good alround brake depending on what rotor you put on them. If you put a 203mm they are very powerful and good for DH FR stuff. But if you put smaller than that then they are good for xc to AM stuff. And wiggle is selling them for œ100 [:D]

I think the hope mini pro brakes are lighter than the ultimates, but they cheated and used a thinner rotor.
