Rear Derailleur Help

Hi,

Hope you can help. I've got a problem with my Alivio Rear Mech. I've set the higher and lower limit as shown on the Park Tools Website. However when I shift upwards or downwards, I seem to skip/jump gear both when going up or down?

Any advice would be great?

Cable tension or dirty cables.

Adjust the cable tension either at the shifter end, or the mech end.

Clean the cables by shifting the mech into the smallest cog (without pedalling) and you should be able to pull the outer cable from the cable stops, enabling you to clean the inner cables.

Or the hanger is bent. stand behind and check the derailler arm is parallel to the cogs
