Last manitous I had were awful. If its the IT version then stay well clear as that was a terrible system with big reliability issues. What manitous are you looking at?

Steer clear of the Nixon with the infinate travel as that was a poor system. I think the other versions were OK. Have you considered marzochhi AM's. I have often seen these discounted from new.

Speaking from experience of their XC forks, i'd avoid Manitou like the plague.

It's a shame, because they used to build some quality forks.

Yeh i saw them but don't know if i will really need a 20mm bolt through hub. What do you recon?

i reckon the coils in the pikes could possibly be ok. most people i know have had to buy the stiffer springs because the ones it comes with are too soft. how much do you weigh?

The marz all mountain get very good reviews for performance and reliability. If you have a decent front wheel and don't weigh too much then a qr shouldn't hold you back too much.

I have never had a problem with a qr, and I weigh 15 stone, my wheel is a hope / xc717 so it will have a similar strength to a crossride. I would say that you will be OK with a qr.

You also don't get a shock pump with them adn one is œ30 [:o] thats a rip off anyone know where to get one cheap for low pressure?

So you just gotta be carefull then. Which one of the links before would think is best? What is the all mountain 2 like? is qr enough for that much travel?

I would usually advise a 20mm thru axle above 140mm of travel, but as you weigh as much as a wet flea, I am not sure you'd feel the difference! ;-)

All the other AM's used to be coil sprung, where as the SL's were air sprung. Don't know if that is still the case. You'll be worth while a low pressure shock pump though, as It's taken me forever to get mine set up using a normal high pressure one, as the gauge just isn't accurate enough.

Yeh but really don't have the money for one i am working on a tight budget. Its either a shock pump or new tyres. Do you find they are flex as they have a qr and 150mm travel?

er when i have my new bike probs the first or second thursday after the 16th [:D] I just need a good fork and for œ200 it looks a bargin. i have heard marz forks alway feel really good i just woundered if i need a 20mm thru bolt. but obviously not as i am only 8 1/2 stone it should be fine [:D] what do you think?
