Anyone have any reccomendations for good moisturising drops for contact lenses?
My eyes seem to be v.dry & cause me bother when I have the lenses in.
Cheers!
Dave

I suffer from the same thing, to the point where I can't actually ride wearing contact lenses. My opticions (Specsavers) gave me some to try but it didn't make much of a difference. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had any joy with anything else.

Liquifilm tears work a treat for me. They're made by Allergan. Unfortunately, I can't remember any more than that but I've got a few in a box at home if you want more info.
Think mine might be prescription too but they should be available off prescription as they're just for people with a poor tear film.

Dave, have you had a contact lens check at your opticians? I'm with Boots and I have one once a year just to check the state of my eyes. I now use a moisturising lens (dailies) which does seem to make them more comfortable over longer periods. I did use a product called 'Blink' they do a lens specific one, which worked really well.

I use specsavers all day all night contacts and don't have any problems when riding. They can be a little dry first thing in the morning after I've slept in them, usually if I have a hangover and am dehydrated [;)]

Blink is pretty good... or just get laser eye surgery - I had it done about 9 months ago and it was an excellent decision[8D]

Try a different type of lens, some are more suited to dry eyes. I used to have probs with my lenses because of hayfever, but the lenses i use now are much better. Proclear i think theyre called.
If you have a decent optician (optomerist?) they should let you try different types out - well mine did anyway.

It's a brave man does the eye surgery in my opinion. It has a risk and as I understand it doesn't stop your eyes changing so what's the point?

No more mud getting behind contact lenses on the trails, no more having to change, clean and protect contact lenses. No more glasses (except for any pair of sunglasses that I want rather than prescription ones[8D]), being able to see properly when I am swimming and when waking up in the morning.... oh yeah and 20/20 vision without any of the previous hassles[:D]
I had it done near the end of last year and am very glad I did, just wish I had it done earlier. I do realise that my eyes will deteriorate again through time but thats life, the risks were also explained to me but if you are careful about who you get the op with and do a lot of research on the Surgeon who is going to perform the op then it reduces the risk dramatically.
Realise its not for everyone - I am happy I had it done though.

Well, maybe first one eye and if it goes well then the other? [:D]
Btw I wear lenses too, can get a bit dry after a whole day behind a monitor, but bike riding actually makes them more comfortable, eyes get wetter because of wind. Moisturising drops didn't help much, only for a few minutes, I don't even use them anymore. Generally I can wear lenses for as long as needed without significant discomfort. Even slept with them once lol [:D]
To clip or not to clip, that is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind of men to suffer the dings and contusions of unclipp'd riding, or to bind thy feet against a sea of gnarly singletrack and by these contraptions, ride o'er them with ease. To clip... to slip no more, and by clipping to end the buttache and the thousand natural shocks that ryders are heir to; tis a consummation devoutly to be honed. No clip - to slip perchance to be thrashed most heinously...
