new forks or new bike?

Hello all just a quick question. My mate has taken over my old bike (mongoose ald pro, vibe R forks) but the forks are shot, he mainly rides xc and is just learning to do small drop offs, any good suggestions for a set of forks or would he be better just getting a new bike. Please bear in mind this bike was œ300 about 4 years ago so need ideas accordingly. Thanks.

Maybe look at some second hand forks then if its an old bike. Something like marzochhi MX comp second hand shouldn't cost a bomb but are reliable forks that offer good performance. This will be a lot cheaper than getting a new bike, I suppose it depends on how much money he has to spend on a new bike.

Yeh second hand forks would be good. I would say somehting like rs reba's probs.

I have some adjustable travel 70-100 mm Manitou Splice forks,with lock out,which I am selling for œ50,if you are interested.They are in good condition and are a year old.Were previously on my XTC but I now have soem RS Rebas,so surplus to requirements.

Its an OE coil version, no uturn, but has lockout and adjustable rebound damping. Its heavy though.
