I didn't realise that the Daily Mail was a newsworthy source. Also, these plans are to be 'examined' by the government which means that an Email may have been sent to some minister somewhere. I doubt it will go much further than that.

That's an interesting plan, however. Farm animals make methane and CO2 which is bad. Except plants need CO2 produced by animals to photosnythesise and, well live... and make oxygen so that we can live... so keep all the animals surrounded by enough vegetation and things will be okay for us both. Isn't that how it should be?

All it reinforces is that heavily automated, battery-type farming isn't a good thing (we knew that already). And unless the other big agricultural nations (think USofA and co) follow suit it won't do anything to help no matter how green and tree-hugging we become.

I'll never be vegan, I could happily be a vegetarian, i might go veggie for the summer to make cooking more interesting, i feel in a bit of a cooking rut. But veganism is just mental, it is way too extreme for me, plus i love cheese and butter way too much. Also marshmallows and meringue and jelly are too yummy to give up
