Speedkings/Nobby Nic

Yes, sorry, it's the usual "what tyre" question again, but I HAVE endeavoured to use the search facility and have discovered that it is down mainly to personal choice. However, I would like a little advice here please.
I'm generally leaning towards getting the Speedkings, as they are 50% cheaper than the Nics (46 Euros delviered vs 66). I've heard that the Nics wear out really quickly too - I presume the Speedkings would last longer?
Also, I know that the Nic would do as an all-year round tyre. Would the Speedking do the same?
I'm a bit of an XC whippet, so would 2.1" tyres be preferable to 2.3" (bearing in mind I run an OE Kenda Nevegal/Bluegroove combo at the moment, which I find overly draggy)?
Would a better idea to have a Nic on the front (which obviously wears less quickly), and to have a speedking on the front until winter, then put my Kenda tyre back on the rear?
Thanks!

Speedking is an allrounder of sorts, built for various terrain, but with an emphasis on fast rolling. Not quite the allrounder as say the Explorer. I find Conti to wear very well. The Protection version are the ones to get with the duraskin sidewalls. Last ages.

I use 2.1" NN's front and rear from early spring then change the rear to a 2.1" Racing Ralph for summer.
NN's are great tyres and can be used pretty much all year round. TBH, i don't find them to wear particularly quickly, although the Ralph's do.
I've used Conti Duraskins in the past and they don't wear any more quickly or slowly that Schwalbe.Roadie

Hmm, I'm tempted by the Nobby Nics, but really can't afford to be replacing them often. How long is "ages"? I'd be hoping for 3000-4000km out of a set of tyres...
Come on people! I want your opinions!
