Bikehut discs

Need to replace the Tektro IO calliper on the Kraken, Halfords will replace with a bikehut branded calliper (cable)
Anyone any experience of these are they comparable (at least not any worse!)?
What pads does it use?
Should I push them to see if they could do a deal on some hydro's or insist that it is replace with a tektro (new model)?

Can't comment on the cable discs but the halfords hydro discs are pretty good , I've got a set on my xc bike and apart from being overfilled when they were first fitted are really good stoppers(I weigh 15 stone) , at œ60 an end they're a bit of a bargain too especially when the Diatech anchor sport brakes(same brake but branded by the maker) retail at œ75.

Decent for the money but then I would say that I work there! Personally I'd go for the Shimano Deore mechanical discs and get them online at that price.0

The Bikehut ones are OK.

Don't bother. IMHO, go for an Avid BB5 @ œ40 RRP (each). They are superb, easy to set up and easy to maintain. Fantastic performance at a great price. Shimano Deore cable discs are super crisply made, but very underpowered and don't offer anywhere near the power of other brands.
Also, see my post here [:)]

IIRC the Bikehut ones have pad adjustment on both sides too so they'll be an upgrade. Now, let me try and think who makes them..... I've got a feeling it's Quad.

Went to Halfords, they happily agreed to swap brakes for the hydraulic ones for the difference in price - so for just under sixty pounds I now have a full set of hydraulics - one happy chappy here.

Shortened the brake hose and bleed the brakes today, the guy in Halfords gave me some tubing, turning into a bit of a bike mechanic!
Will be trying them out first thing tomorrow at Llandegla.
