Viper World Cup

Just bought a Viper World Cup 2006 model hardtail from Chain Reaction mail order in Ireland. Probably too late to ask about buying advice now as it's on its way to me! Just wondered if anybody knows anything about Viper, any good or have I just bought into one of MTB's lemons?? The spec on this bike was pretty good for my limited budget and my plan is to hopefully upgrade the frame to something nicer made of steel later this year. [:D]

You got the team or the pro? I think they are a German company, well known there, but little seen here (like Focus...). You got yourself a XC race machine there, where I think most of the money goes in a superlight frame.
You must be pretty tall if you needed a 22" framed bike...

I've got the one below the Pro so I guess it's the team?? It's a 20" not a 22", I wanted the 18" but they suggested I'd be better off with the 20" and I guess that's right as I'm 6' and have an inseam of 33", well it sounds like it'll be ok for my needs then, mainly single track and X-country racing, thanks for the reply had no idea they were German, should be ok then! Must have gotten one of the last 20" ones, as they seem to be discontinued now...
Looking at the specs and the evolution of those throughout the World Cup range, I am quite sure most of the money has indeed gone into the frame. Not too sure about how light it is, so let us know when you get it [;)]. The fork let's the bike down a bit (heavy), but the rest of the kit seems to be ok, with potential to upgrade as it wears out.

Any update on how your getting on with this?
Looking at purchasing one myself0 -
Yep, bought it! Excellent light frame, decent wheels (Sun/Sunn??) Conti tyres, full Deore groupset with nasty paddle style shifters, Manitou Axel forks, heavyish but work. Excellent bike tu upgrade!0
