If I were to by a set of Gusset Pigmy R Cranks, would I be able to run a normal MTB chainring, or would I have to get a BMX chainring?

Mmm does he? really i could not tell. but why? is there more? like does he have a 4 bolt bash he wants to run? or a 5 bolt? or is he concerned about chain thickness as he wants to run gears but will it work on a bmx chain wheel?
