What to do

A minion at work has a new mrs which he is trying to keep very secrative(sp). It turns out to be one of the customers and it is effecting his work.

This has came up before but the director has said if he does anything like that then he is fired on the spot.

He is leaving in just under a month. Do I let him be or do I fire him? he is kind of a mate which complicates things a little more.

Make him grovel. Like a bit<s></s>ch, make him your gimp for a month and then when he leaves tell him you were never going to fire him any way

If he's leaving, leave him be. Firing him will make it harder for him to get a job in the future and as a friend aswell.

Its not as simple as that though, yes its easy to say let him be, but he has been consistantly warned about it by myself and the directors.

I suppose it comes down to wether i value my work or his friendship? if thats what your making it out to be? and to be honest its really not that easy at all.

So basically turn a blind eye and when he gets found out via directors neither of us have a job? he will get found out as the woman he is messing about with is a good friend of one of the director's wives.

how about you start by having a quite word with him abotu it and see how he reacts. if he dosn't respect that then move on to futher action.

It is my fault though firslty for not telling the directors and secondly I am directly responsible for him as I am him manager. I would be classed as endangering a relationship with a customer and not performing my job properly.

Why not just discuss it with the directors and explain why you are hesitant about firing him? It will probably look better on them for not firing someone who's only got a month left?

1, How much does it effect company work?

2, If he's fired, he won't be getting any other jobs.

3, From directors eyes, How would you have known about this?

4, If he's leaving in just under a month, why don't you suggest that he keeps it at a bare minimum untill he leaves at its all gravey. If theres negative reaction from that, start hinting you don't want to lose your job.

Man I hope the directors arn't closet MTB'ers and on the forum!

You'r generally not allowed relationships with clients in a lot of high profile buissnes. Especially if it can effect the company/client relationship.

Hes a uni placement student so he will jsut have to do an extra module

The directors are aware that I have a friendship (if you can call it that with him and they know about when he pulled (i was there)

Again already have done and he basically said old mans stamp collection off and that they cant fire me apparently

If it was found that simon knew about this, as the chap in question has had a history of this and simon is his direct manager. Directors would blame simon for not noticing it/acting on it.

May not be fire, but enough to put your job/carrer on thin ice.

Why endanger your career over his?
He obviously knew the rules and chose to ignore them.
Or offer him an ultimatium, stop seeing her till he leaves, then he can do what he likes. Or be fired.
