Scrap tax on bikes

hi sorry if this has already been posted but didnt find anything relevant. As well as the petitions to remove VAT from cycles the boss from hot wheels has started a petition to remove the 14% import tax from new bikes. please take time to follow the link have a read and sign the petition if u agree

    surely removing the import tax would cause everyone to buy bikes/components cheaper from abroad, thus causing a decline in the UK bike market. Not a very desirable effect if you think about it

  • Where do u think every shop in the uk buys the majority of bikes from as they are made abroad. it means cheaper bikes in the uk

    or do u by all ur electrical goods cheaper from abroad?

    In the UK you don't actually have to pay sale tax on bike. You have to do this through you place of work but it can be done. We have sold 100s of bike like this.

    Yeah, the ride to work scheme.

    Rather telling how highly taxed they are if by removing the tax from the sale you can save up to 50% of the bike's price...

    and bikes are still cheaper in the UK than Sweden!
