Tightening Valves

My rear tyre kept deflating after eing pumped up. I eventually found the problem that was that the valve part inside the valve tube (if that makes any sense) was loose. I tightened the inside as best as i could with a small screwdriver. This stopped it for a while but soon enough it did it again.
Short of getting a new tube (it seems such a small problem to warrent a new one) or squirting locktite inside (which i thought was generally a bad idea) I'm not sure what i can do other than keep tightening it up.
Any ideas?

ffs dont buy any cores
car tyre shops bin hundreds everyday. at least the one i worked in did, we gave them off free, and dust caps if people needed them.
