Just remembered this, happened Sunday. Took my road bike to help build at the Cannock Chase DH track, as I couldn't get a lift. Leave it where we were working to try to shame some downhill riders to help when they saw a roadie, didn't work.
Anyway, there were some people doing cross country running of some description, choosing to go down the DH courses rather than down the fireroad despite our warnings. Likely to get run over, but that's their problem.
A couple of downhillers mentioned when they stopped for a chat that as one of the runners had gone past my bike and sent a spray of stones over it. They'd heard the noise of the stones hitting the bike. I check it over, and sure enough, paint chips.
The runners who were at Cannock Chase on Sunday: You are fucking wankers. Apart from the decent couple who stopped and asked us for a safe route down.
