Is a specialist fork pump absolutely essential for pumping in air?

Since it is Max. 2 Bar according to the manual, could I not just use a footpump (rated to 10.5 bar)?

get a shock/fork pump with a guage that will allow you to set them correctly every time. you spent what on the forks and then try to get out of how much that will allow you to get the best out of your forks.

Thing is I have absolutely no money at the moment.

Is there any danger of damaging the forks with a footpump? It has a guage which seems to be pretty accurate with tyres but probably not super accurate.

if there is no point whatsoever in using the footpump I'll just have to wait for a bit and save up for a shock pump.
