What do you like to see when watching a biking video/film?

Fast pace/flashy clips?
Long/clear clips?
Close ups of jumps/rider?
Far shots of area?
Above/high shots?
Low/below rider shots?
'Following shots'?

Just give me some ideas of what makes a good biking video?

Thankyou

Long/clear with far shots of the area too with the odd low/below rider shot and a hint of above/high mixed in.

    High shots are always good.
If your following over a jump, for the love of god make sure you show the landing, even if its a bail. Nothing infuriates me more then that. (inless its a cinimatic, jump into the sun set thing.
Chase is cool, but needs to be clear, no point i putting up a crappy chase just for the sake of it.

I'm also quite fond of two camras on a nice berm or something and seeing the action from more then one view point.

Personaly I think the rate that the angle/shot changes should vary with the rider, If your burning it down some lurvely single track, lots of passing shots for example.

One thing with amuture vids that kills me is when you see what might have been an amazing pat, but the sun was glaring too much and darkend the whole thing. If stuff like that happens, shoot it again!

As with all videos you need to grip people instantly, but not splash out all the best bits streigth away. What ever you don DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT start with all your mates p*ssing about. Irritates the c**p out of me!

um... If i think of more i'll add!

EDIT, Forgot, keep some bails in there too! Mabey at the end if you want to look pro!

Credits for riders definatly, whilst showing either their best clip from the vid, or worst bail!

Editor yes, music, not if its just SOAD or somthing like that.
    Know anyone in a band?

Just thought it would have been cool to use them for the music!

Couldn't really say on effects personaly. They don't do much for me inless its an arty video which biking generaly isn't. I think its more important how you move from shot to shot/ Trail to the next etc..

  • I don't know if you've seen this, but its a cracker.

That's one of the best I've seen in a long time. Its really good if you use a low quality capture devise, like a phone or a cheap digital camera.
You should aim to take about 2 minutes of footage, and then repeat the same clips 7 or 8 times so that the end product is like 10 minutes long. Random shots of food are also good as they add to the realism.
Then some other random clips of you and your mates joshing around are always a bonus, because that'll really show the audience that your a total dude and you just don't conform to the norms of society.

Good luck man, keep it foolish.
