Light weight XC tyre advice

Hi,

Off to the States next week (Washington DC and NY) and they are enjoying some really hot weather (High 20's - Low 30's) and they don't let you ride the trails in the wet (WTF?), GF says there's some nice technical trails a short drive away and as I'm taking my trusty steed I'm looking at swapping out my Trailrakers for some purely dry to loose XC tyres.

Wouldn't mind something light as I'm trying to keep the weight down.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance T1b.

Schwalbe Racing Ralph on the rear and a Nobby Nic on the front. If its purely dry conditions then you might be able to get away with the RR on the front as well.

The Racing Ralph is an awesome tire. I was 15minutes faster than ddooggie when i was using one on the rear.

If you are interested in being silly theres the Maxxis Flyweight 330 or Maxxlite 310 tires. They sound ideal for the sort of surface you are riding but the sidewalls aren't overly thick and El Cap has complained about punctures using them. I've never had a problem however.

Cheers for the info, I was looking at Panaracer Fire XC or Cinders, thanks for giving me another option [:)]

Can't rate the Panaracer Razer XC highly enough. Lightest XC tyre I've ever used, 476g. Fast rolling. No punctures so far. Bit sketchy at times in the wet or very technical BUT that won't bother you in the States. Done Coed Llandegla with then in the wet today and a 48mile challenge last week.

panaracer fire for xc.........panaracer cinder 2.25 for a bit more mud / rock allround.

Took a cinder on the back wheel of some sunrim mtx's to afan and did whites and the wall in the wet on it and it was fantastic. ( nevagal 2.35 on the front)

I use my panaracer 2.1 fire xc on a set of mavic crossmax enduros as a tubeless system using stans sealant and they are fantastic for xc.
super light and hard wearing. ( get the black ones ) ( cinder 2.25 on the front)

just my peice of cake thrown into the arena
