dual chainring setup - what sized rings?

I've gone from 44,32,22/11-34 (I think) to 32,22/11-34 with an e-13 DRS and am going to buy two chainrings that will give me ratios that are more in the middle of the standard gears - at the moment I'm ok going up hills but my legs spin a bit fast going down. I was thinking something like 38,26 as this falls somewhere in the middle - but I can't find anyone who sells something like that (at a lowish price). DMR Shift R used to have 26,28,38,40 which were ideal but they've been discontinued
Can anyone help find me some or give me other ideas?

I can find inner 26T 9sp (deore œ5 - winner) which is what i want but a 38T middle is a bit hard.

A 36T middle ring should do you fine. It's what I use on my DH bike so i very much doubt you'll spin out on a normal XC run. Raceface do one for a reasonable sum.
I doubt you'll get a 38T in anything but a single ring format (no pickups).

Indeed I see. If it's good enough for a DH rig then it should be fine for me. I'll look some more thanks.0

your issue is not your chainring but the max. chainring size of your E13, you need to check this first before buying any rings...
2 versions of the E13 DRS:
Middle ring 32-36T Max
Middle ring 36T-40T
you can get a non-ramped 38T chainring that will work ok within a DRS, its doubtful you will find a 9 speed ramped chainring over 36T size..
your front shifting system will still work even using a non-ramped chainring, it just won't shift as clean and quickly, especially under pressure going up a steep climb in the mud
i use 36T on my DRS and find it plenty quick for DHs and good for riding on the flatter terrain

I've got the larger DRS as I saw this chainring changing coming. 36T seems the way to go then I think. thanks for those points rob.
You've got a DRS too? You get any problems changing in the middle ring to the bigger cogs on the cassette? I used to go from 1-9 using the middle ring but now the way that the DRS works/is setup I can only go as low as 4. The stepped roller pulls the chain across moving the rear mech off-line. any thoughts on that one? Or I might make a new thread for this problem ha ha.0 -
you might want to check that the spacing on your E13 is setup right
the alignment lip of the dual-pulley roller cage should be parallel with the plastic bash guard...put a ruler across the 2 and it should be flush, even a couple of mm out can affect things..
if they are not flush then your chain device is misaligned and is probably causing your gear problems, once setup right it should not interfere or influence your shifting system in any way
to align..check out E13s website or your instructions, this can involve respacing your bottom bracket / cranks or adding the spacing plates between the backplate and roller cage to push it out
